The Great Commission, kept on a Thursday

Grace Bible Baptist Church calls itself an old fashioned, King James Bible, independent, fundamental, soul winning, missionary minded Baptist church. Soul winning is not just a line in a list. It is a night on the calendar: Thursday Soul Winning, 7:00 P.M.

The church describes itself as a great soul-winning ministry, striving to obey God’s Great Commission to preach the gospel to every creature. That phrase comes straight from Mark 16:15: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

We also financially support worldwide missions. The same heart that sends help overseas is the one that meets on Thursday evening here at 2646 Jefferson Ave.

How the week carries it

Thursday is not the only night the gospel is in front of us. Sunday School is at 10:00 A.M. and Morning Worship at 11:00 A.M., with Evening Worship at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday Evening is at 7:30 P.M., and on Saturday the Bus Meeting is at 10:30 A.M. with Bus Visitation at 11:00 A.M. Soul winning sits in the middle of that week, not off to the side of it.

Pastor Robert Barnett’s verse is Proverbs 11:30: “He that winneth souls is wise.”

Grace Bible held its 8th Annual Soul Winning Bible Conference, “Reaching Adam’s Race Everywhere,” June 8th through 11th, 2025, on the theme “Loving one another” from 1 John 4:7.

The plan of salvation our church publishes

If you want to know what we say when we speak about the Lord Jesus Christ, it is the same plan our church publishes. Realize that God loves you: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). All men are sinners: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

Sin must be paid for: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). Christ paid for our sins: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). We must personally pray and receive Christ by faith: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

The prayer our church prints reads: “Lord, I know that I am a sinner. If I died today, I would not go to heaven. Forgive my sin, come into my life and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus Name, Amen.” Everlasting life begins when we receive Christ as our Savior.
